Theatre workshop “body – space – rhythm“

TeaterAksen, Rådstua, Tromsø, 21st & 22nd of April 2007

What does it mean to be in a theatrical space? Where does it start and where does it end? When are you inside of a theatre situation? Is it already enough when someone is watching you or do you need a stage, seats and a some people who pay for looking at you to call it “theatre“? And – most of all – what are you actually doing when you act? Which possibilities do you have and which of them are the right ones for you?
Questions like these are the motivation behind the workshop “body – space – rhythm”. We will explore three of the main prerequisits for the little scoudrel that is called “theatre” and how they are connected with one another. But this is not something that can be fixed in a book for eternity. It is something that must be experienced through the usage of what we have to act: our bodies, our voice, our minds and all the things that sorround us. To get conscious about the elements that come together in a theatre process can (and should) help to employ the tools in a way that allows more precise, more comlex and more intense results. And it shows what theatre as I see it is: a process that must be acted out.
The aim of the workshop is a quite simple one: We will learn to know more about the possibilities and connections inside a thatrical space. But this knowledge is mainly a knowledge of experiencing. We will try and fail. And if things go right, we will feel comfortable about it.

The workshop will be at "Rådstua Teaterhus" in week 16.
Saturday 21st of April from 10:00 until 18:00 and
Sunday 22nd of April from 13:00 until 19:00

To get to know each other better and maybe to continue some of the thoughts and emotions we have been gone through during the workshop there will (most probably) be a "theatre - party" at Saturday night. We will make food, talk, play, relax and try to have a good time together.
